Oh, lawsy, this is like me refusing to be a block-watch leader up here, after being one for 15 years in Bremerton.

Not that I did a lot – once I got that gang going, they filmed the coke dealers and partied on their cars all by themselves. All I had to do was stay out of their way. They made wanna-be gang members literally weep. Navy town.

I did put up that old Detroit sign: “Drug parking, 15 minute limit.” That thing WORKS. And brings the neighbors and cops around to laugh and photograph it. But the neighbors complain if you take it down, because they thought it was funny.

I’ve never tried to make out my characters are completely dignified.

Another reason I like Bones; the characters act like we all do if we’re surprised or hurt. Mouths hang open, voices go up, arguments drop to a child’s level, minds freeze in moments of real fear. The lead character’s flat effect is like watching an insane but bright and curious child, which Deschenel carries off beautifully.

But I’m not watching that thing while I’m eating any more….

Been watching Bones. The Booth character – played by David Boreanaz – resembles how Stinz acts in this scene.

The modern prose “novel” is mostly no such thing. If you want to see a traditional novel, it’s formed by the TV series whose writing people begin in The X Files, go through Dead Like Me and are now working in Bones.

Female lead, male sidekick/love interest, quirky or interesting frame, learning or growing up, moral at the end.

Hmmmm….. no, not so much a novel as the Italo/Franko/Germanic Novella! It LIVES! My German teachers would be so happy .

Fun with spotting actors; “Clark” is played by the angry young gun-slinger in Dead Man. Now we play de game.

Stinz is NOT in the right, here. This is an election, not a scrimmage.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it would be more fun if ours still have canes. It might blow off some steam. Maybe if male congresspeople were going for each other with canes they’d stop letting male commentators call female congresspeople slags and hags. But that’s probably too much to hope.
