Everybody always thinks about how a half-horse deals with that nakedness problem.
If this were a society in its original form, nudity and erections would be dealt with in a natural, adult manner. But these people have become Catholics — and you KNOW what the middle-eastern sun-god religions are like.
Been wondering; nakedness under a full sun is a death sentence. Did a necessity become a religious stricture?
A new story start tomorrow, about the first time Stinz really got himself in trouble with more than one girl — and sets the course for an important future of his life.
One of those turning points that we remember as, “If ONLY I’d –.”
Stinz is at that time in life when a big boy doesn’t know how big he’s getting.
More mixing up human and horse movements.
BTW, if I give any hints at drawing these critters, I DON’t mean “draw like me.”
Ya just gotta do your own 10,000 bad drawings. There’s no way around it. It’s how you achieve hand control. And I’m not going to argue with anybody on this; you either have it, or you don’t. If you have it, you can see it, and know when it’s not there. Which is why you NEVER EVER EVER tell anybody they don’t have hand control, unless you immediately want to be transformed into the Wicked Witch, because if they don’t have it, they can’t see it. And now I’m writing like James Clavell….
I’d say I was from the van Gogh art school, except I’m beginning to think he was drinking a lot of absinthe; all those swirly stars. Don’t ask me how I know.
Lots of human/horse body language in this one.
I didn’t originate any of that; any little girl pretending simultaneously to be horse and rider is an available model. At any moment, any part of her body may be horse or human; it’s an almost animist dance. Often, the girls are imitating both men and women, stallions and mares; pure theater.
So if you want to draw centaurs, here are two clues:
1. The human hip bone and the horse’s shoulder are at almost the same angle. Match them for position and size, and you’re home.
2. Find some little girls playing horsie and watch them.
3. Don’t try to match the connection between horse and human exactly — a horse’s neck is flat one way and the human torso the other. It’s pretty much a matter of illusion and pretend — just like the little girls.
I drawed horses better back then. Or so it looks to me.
Overhead scenes, crash scenes, viewers in the 4th wall.
Yeah, I’m a movie geek.
Crowd scenes are always fun to draw.
This is just what’s known in the movies as “meet cute.”
